A Hidden Gem in the Tetons
Hi there! Taryn and Jeremy here. We are thrilled to share one of our favorite winter destinations with you: Grand Targhee Resort. Nestled on the western side of the stunning Teton Mountains, this resort offers an unbeatable combination of incredible powder, beautiful scenery, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
Why We Love Grand Targhee
First and foremost, the snow at Grand Targhee is simply unmatched. With over 500 inches of fluffy, dry powder falling each year, it’s a paradise for those who love to ski and snowboard. We’ve had some of our best days on the slopes here, enjoying the deep snow and clear blue skies that make for perfect skiing conditions (Wyoming Ski Authority) (Grand Targhee).
Affordable Fun for Everyone
One of the reasons we keep coming back to Grand Targhee is its affordability. Lift tickets here are generally $20-40 cheaper than at many other major resorts, which makes it a fantastic option for budget-conscious travelers like us. Plus, the range of lodging options, from cozy cabins to more budget-friendly choices, ensures that everyone can find a place to stay that suits their needs and their wallet (OnTheSnow) (Grand Targhee).
Terrain for All Skill Levels
The terrain at Grand Targhee is wonderfully varied, catering to all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner looking to improve on the gentle slopes of Fred’s Mountain or an advanced skier eager to tackle the challenging runs on Peaked Mountain, there’s something here for everyone. We’ve had a blast exploring the 2,602 acres of skiable terrain, and there’s always something new to discover each time we visit (Wyoming Ski Authority) (Ski North America’s Top 100 Resorts).
Family-Friendly Atmosphere
As a family, we really appreciate the kid-friendly features at Grand Targhee. The dedicated kids’ adventure zone and the minimal lift lines mean we can enjoy more time on the slopes together without the usual hassle. Our children love the sense of adventure they get from skiing here, and we love the peace of mind that comes with knowing they’re in a safe, welcoming environment (OnTheSnow) (Ski North America’s Top 100 Resorts).
One major benefit of Grand Targhee over nearby Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the incredible daycare services available. Grand Targhee provides childcare for kids as young as 6 months, while Jackson Hole only starts at 3 years old. This makes it much easier for parents of younger children to enjoy a full day on the slopes while knowing their little ones are well taken care of.
Fresh Powder All Day Long
Another fantastic advantage of Grand Targhee is the ability to ski fresh powder all day. Unlike Jackson Hole, where the fresh snowfall is often skied out within an hour or two, Grand Targhee’s powder stashes last throughout the day. This means more opportunities for uninterrupted powder runs and an overall better skiing experience (OnTheSnow).
Year-Round Adventure
Grand Targhee isn’t just a winter wonderland; it offers fantastic activities all year long. In the summer, we trade our skis for mountain bikes and hiking boots, exploring the alpine trails and enjoying the breathtaking views. Whether you’re visiting in winter or summer, there’s always something exciting to do here (Grand Targhee).
Easy to Get To
Getting to Grand Targhee is easier than you might think. You can fly into either Jackson Hole or Idaho Falls, both of which are about the same distance from the resort. We often find that flying into Idaho Falls is a bit cheaper, and from there, it’s just a scenic drive to the resort. Once you’re at Grand Targhee, the shuttle services make it easy to get around without needing a car (OnTheSnow).
